Meet Our Fundraisers

If you are contacted over the phone or approached at the door by a fundraiser talking animatedly about ending global poverty, then you have met one of our Oxfam Frontliners!

Oxfam Frontliners

The Frontliners are a team of dedicated Oxfam ambassadors working around the clock to strengthen our supporter base. Whether it’s thanking you for your continued support over the phone or galvanizing you to join our movement at your door – the Frontliners are reaching out to Oxfam allies every day, to spread the news on our current efforts and their impact around the world.

Our Trusted Fundraising Partners

Our campaigns are also carried out by professional agencies. Currently our active partners are The Network Inc. (TNI) and Public Outreach. We teach their canvassers about our history, ideals and programs to make sure they are knowledgeable representatives of Oxfam Canada. We take pride in the knowledge, enthusiasm and quality of our fundraisers.

How do I know that the fundraiser that I spoke to on the phone is legitimate?

Tele-Frontliners will identify themselves as such on the call, and will have information on you as an Oxfam supporter that you have provided to us in the past. They may ask you to confirm some of your missing details, which helps us form a better picture of who our supporter demographics are and stay better connected to them – such as date of birth and/or email.

Fundraisers will be calling out through the following phone lines: 613-707-7418, 647-955-6246, 236-900-3199 or 604-239-1442.

How do I know the fundraiser I met at the door is legitimate?

Our door-to-door fundraisers will have strong knowledge about Oxfam’s initiatives, and will invite you to support us through our monthly giving program. Your donation is confirmed instantly through an email and/or SMS. We currently have active campaigns in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Nova Scotia. Fundraisers will wear a vest branded with Oxfam’s logo as well as a prominently displayed name tag. They will carry materials about our work and facilitate a contactless sign-up through a tablet. Our canvassers are committed to recruiting supporters who wish to support Oxfam through a monthly donation and are not permitted to accept cash.

If you signed up for a monthly donation through one of our door-to-door fundraisers, you will be receiving a verification call from the following phone lines:

(778) 366-2525, 613) 707-7418, (647) 955-6246, (236) 900-3199, (604) 239-1442

How do I know my donations will be securely processed?

Tele-Frontliners process your donations through a secure platform that is PCI DSS Level1 1 Compliant. When donating by credit card, the Frontliner will be transferring you to an automated payment system which will allow you to input your payment details securely, removing any exposure of your card information to the agent. This keeps the donation process PCI compliant.

At the door, fundraisers are equipped to facilitate a contactless sign-up process. During sign-up, the fundraiser will transfer the form to your personal device where you may enter sensitive payment information. Data collected on the fundraiser’s device is encrypted locally and through all transmission processes. In cases where cell service is limited, fundraisers may use paper forms with the donor’s consent, for which a carbon copy receipt will be provided.

Can I just donate online or by mail?

You may of course donate through whichever channel you prefer. However, we do encourage that you get involved through our frontline fundraisers if it is they who have inspired you to give! This enables us to track the effectiveness of each of our campaigns with accuracy, towards which we are investing valued funds. Not only can our Frontliners get the recognition they deserve for their efforts, it also helps us better understand which of our campaigns are inspiring a positive response from our supporters. This information is valuable to us, and helps guide our future fundraising activities.

How has Oxfam Canada adapted face-to-face fundraising in response to COVID-19?

It has never been so important to start righting the brutal wrongs of inequality. While we have all experienced the impact of COVID-19 in some way, the world’s response to the pandemic has unleashed economic violence most acutely across racialized, marginalized and gendered lines.

Our face-to-face fundraising campaigns are crucial in ensuring we can rise to meet the increased need for the life-saving and inequality-fighting work that Oxfam delivers. Our fundraisers are trained to carry out their work in adherence to all public health orders and are equipped with materials to protect their personal and the public’s health safety – these include personal protective equipment, hand sanitizer and wipes, as well as portable door knockers. Across all our face-to-face fundraising campaigns, signing up for a contribution is facilitated through a contactless process.

Rest assured, the health and safety of all is paramount to us at Oxfam, and across all areas of our work. We will continue to regularly assess our campaigns to ensure we are taking all the necessary precautions to safely carry out our in-person fundraising work.

How do I leave feedback regarding a fundraiser I recently spoke to?

We believe that how we raise funds matters. It’s important to us that we leave a positive impact in all the communities we work with. We would love to hear from you on how you think our fundraisers are doing! To give us feedback, write to us at .

As we have multiple campaigns active at any given time, including details on the interaction you had – such as location, time, day and the fundraiser's name (or a physical description) – will help our team respond to your message efficiently.
